Skunk Found Under Shed in Old Toronto

Exterior Inspection

The property owner of a shed contacted Skunk Control for disturbance underneath their shed. After this, an appointment was made for the technician to go on-site. Immediately, the technician starts the exterior inspection. The exterior inspection is the first and most important step of the skunk removal process.

If you have issues with skunks on your property and want to get them removed as soon as possible, contact Skunk Control Toronto for professional and humane removal.

The goal of the exterior inspection is to figure out where the wildlife animal might be staying and to find entry points through where the animal has gotten through to get underneath or inside the structure. Since this case took place in Old Toronto, it might not come as a surprise since this part of the city is home to a wide variety of animals that are quite iconic such as the raccoon, the squirrel, and of course the skunk which the technician is dealing with.

The skunk seems to be hidden underneath a steel shed and the technician conveyed this information for transparency so that the customer is aware of everything. The technician is now ready to move on to the removal stage of the skunk removal process.

Initial Measures Taken

To remove the skunk, the technician must dig a 1 ft deep trench along the width or length of the shed. Even though skunk removals seem a very straightforward process, the energy and time needed for this case can be quite taxing. In this particular case, 18ft along the side was dug together with a depth of 1 ft. This is to form the wildlife mesh into an L-shape. It is needed to prevent skunks from digging underneath and to prevent the expelled skunk from finding a way back in.

An 18 ft-long trench was dug along the side of the shed with a depth of 1 ft to prepare for the removal process.

Once the steel mesh is put in, the mesh will be attached to the base of the shed with washers and bolts to keep the mesh in its place. The One-Way Door will be attached also. The One-Way Door forces the animal out in a single way. Since the door swings open one way, the skunks will be locked out after they exit the One-Way Door.

After the trench was dug, an L-shaped mesh was placed against skunks. This prevents the skunk from digging underneath the base.

Skunks will take about 7-10 days to leave their burrow. Once they have left, the technician will come back for a follow-up visit and will remove the One-Way-Door. It turns out that the skunk left within a few days. The technician took the door down and sealed the hole where the door used to be and covered the trench with dirt.

A One-Way-Door is attached to the mesh at the base of the building. This gives the skunk one single way to exit.
